After a great weekend enjoying beautiful San Antonio and Sea World (for free, thanks to the Salute our Heroes program), today was my first day of flight school in Corpus. In my starting class of 10 flight students, 5 are Navy Ensigns and 5 are Marine 2nd Lieutenants. I am the only female, and somehow, class leader. Regardless, being the minority makes for an interesting experience for all of us. All of the more experienced, aka salty students, and the IPs, or instructor pilots, watched us carefully as we toured the squadron. As the "new guys", the 10 of us have already been tasked out to several jobs aside from getting ourselves through the syllabus. As we've been told, this isn't college, and we won't be held by the hand through training. I guess that's why my first class is tomorrow and my first test is two days later. Well, off to study...
